When locked, the retention arm secures the slide in the rear position, keeping the chamber visibly empty and preventing the firing pin from reaching the ammunition, making the gun inoperable. Authorized users unlock the system with a fingerprint scan, allowing the slide to move forward, loading a round, and making the firearm operational.

The battery life is dependent on the number of cycles the user puts through it. On standby mode, the battery can last up to 6 months. Additionally, battery indicator lights on the device display the current charge level and signal when it’s time to recharge.
