WHY B.O.S. LOCK WAS BUILT

When Keith Bombaugh became an uncle, his brother made a simple request: make sure the firearms in Keith’s home were secured when his brother’s child came to visit. Keith understood the concern. He also knew that a firearm kept for protection still had to be ready when needed.

Every option he found asked him to give up one for the other. Keith didn’t believe responsible ownership should require that compromise. That is why he built B.O.S. Lock.

Fusion is the latest expression of that belief: designed to help prevent unauthorized access while staying ready for the people trusted to use it.

We understand that security is only one part of how you set up a firearm for home defense. A solution can help prevent unauthorized access and still fall short if it makes the firearm less useful when you need it.

Owners of earlier B.O.S. Lock models told us they valued the added security, but they didn’t want to give up the light and laser they relied on. They also didn’t want an app, an account, or a wireless connection between their firearm and the outside world.

We understood because we faced the same tradeoffs.

That’s exactly why having Walk the Talk America and B.O.S. Lock at our State Suicide Prevention Symposium made such a big impact. Each contributor brought a distinct strength to the presentation, starting with WTTA’s candid perspective from inside the firearm community and its willingness to discuss how even some of its toughest members have died by suicide. That same real-world understanding extended to the locks themselves, which stood out for bridging the needs of clinicians, community prevention specialists, educators, and gun owners.

By prioritizing user safety without overly restricting the firearm owner, the design demonstrated a deep understanding of the audience and showed how thoughtful innovation and authentic collaboration can help move suicide-prevention efforts forward.

In a room of more than 200 people, where over half were gun owners, the uniqueness of the company and its products genuinely opened eyes. B.O.S. Lock and WTTA embodied our symposium’s theme, ‘Stronger Together: Building Networks of Hope,’ by demonstrating the value of collaboration with sectors that have too often been left out of these conversations. We look forward to seeing their momentum expand across state lines.”
